You must get yourself a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) as a business person or a citizen of Ghana, this is the means through which you pay your tax that contributes to the developments of the country, without paying tax means you are not doing your duty as a good citizen who is aiming to see the country to progress every day.

Companies and organizations can also require a TIN since the firm doesn’t own a Ghana card, so that its ID number can be used as the TIN. The Ghana Revenue Authority is still generating TIN numbers for companies and organizations. A TIN for an organization is required and issued to firms so they can also pay their duties to the country as they operate. To get a TIN as an organization, you first need to be registered under the Registrar General Department (RGD). The GRA and the RGD have cooperated to provide an automatic TIN number for firms to keep their businesses running smoothly as they register.

1.  You can get your TIN as long as you have your Ghana card with you: 

The Ghana Revenue Authority made it clear in 2021 that starting from first of April in 2021, the Ghana card is going to be served as our everything since they have decided to take our economy digital, therefore, the Ghana card pin as I said earlier was going to serve as the new TIN which started from the above date stated and it is still working till date. The reason is that it is deemed as more secure and a good way of being able to identify every taxpayer in the country. Therefore, you need a Ghana card before you can have a free TIN in Ghana.

Get A Tin Number In Ghana

One of the free ways to get A TIN for your business or organization is to register your firm with the RGD as stated earlier, this way doesn’t work for individuals who have the Ghana card, with this, you need to register your business first and your TIN will be given to you, the number is also an alphanumeric letters, it can be found on your business registration certificate from the RGD, you maybe also be given any form of tax related document on which the TIN is found.

To conclude everything here, getting a TIN here in Ghana is for free of charge and you do not need anyone to generated it for you, you just need you Ghana card available or your business certificate available, the only thing you will be charged for is when you lose your Ghana card and you want to replace it which it process is a who new topic to study, when you need certain copies of your business document from the RGD too, you will be charged as well, but the TIN is strictly for free and you don’t need to pay anything for it, just keep your document save with you and you are good to go.

In case you have a TIN already and would like to replace it with your Ghana card pin, you firstly need to visit any GRA office closer to you with your Ghana card, a form will be handed over to you to fill, after everything, your TIN will be linked to your Ghana card ID and it will now serve as your main TIN, it can be done online as well by visiting the official website of the GRA, follow their instructions and get it done.
